New Larchmont Acting Village Administrator, Recreation and Deputy Village Clerk Announced
BY STEPHEN E. LIPKEN
Village of Larchmont Mayor Sarah Bauer opened the Monday, May 19 Board of Trustees meeting, stating that Village Administrator Justin Datino resigned, thanking him for his 10 years of service. Assistant Administrator Aylone Katzin will take over Datino’s duties while the village searches for a new Village Administrator.
Katzin announced two new employees. The new Recreation Superintendent is Kyle Peterson, coming from Westchester County Parks, Recreation and Conservation, with a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from SUNY Cortland. The new Deputy Village Clerk is Jamie Silver, who worked in the New York State Attorney General’s Office and Greenburgh Police Department. Silver has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Towson University with a concentration in Criminal Justice.
Katzin reported that the Shore Drive and Flint Avenue Water Main Replacement was completed under the auspices of 929 Construction Services with Woodard and Curran.
Police Lieutenant Joseph Paprota reported that a woman attempted to pass a fraudulent $100 bill at the new 16 Handles store on Monday,
May 5. The store did not accept the bill and the perpetrator left before officers arrived. Also on May 5, officers responded to a hit and run accident on Palmer Avenue near Rio Bravo Tacos and Tequila, identifying a white Dodge Charger that struck two parked vehicles before fleeing the scene. A photograph taken of that car’s license plates led to the motorist’s apprehension.
“The Larchmont Police Department has teamed up with several Westchester law enforcement agencies to implement the Blue Envelope Program to enhance communication between officers and people with autism disabilities. Participants will receive a special blue envelope to store their driver’s license, registration and insurance card. Handing the envelope over to police makes a more effective car stop,” Paprota concluded.
Trustee Peter Fanelli said that paddleball, pickleball and tennis courts are open, and permits are needed. Flint Park Summer Camp will run from June 30 to August 8, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM. Camp is closed for the July 4 holiday. For more information, go to larchmontny.gov/camp.
