
Police Officer Promoted, Tentative Budget Presented

Larchmont Deputy Mayor Dana Post convened the March 24th Board meeting, beginning with promotion of Police Officer Natalie Hecht to Detective, who graduated from Mercy College in 2019, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Minor in Psychology, Hecht was hired as a Larchmont Police Officer in August 2021.
“After serving just two years in the Larchmont Police Department, in 2023 Natalie received the Thomas J. Sullivan Police Officer of the Year Award,” Police Chief Christopher T. McNerney stated. “Natalie is a Certified Youth Officer, School Resource Officer and is the Department’s Domestic Violence Liaison for Westchester County,” McNerney concluded.
Then Fire Chief Richard W. Valentine reminded residents to acquaint themselves with utility shutoffs in their homes, including a whole house water shutoff in case of a leak, a whole house breaker in the case of an electrical issue and various household shut offs including gas and propane. Shutoffs should be clearly labeled and accessible.
Trustee Brigid Brennan announced that Earth Day will take place in Constitution Park on Saturday, April 26th. Trustee Peter Fanelli said that permits are required to play Pickleball; contact recreation@larchmontny.gov/paddle. Spring Egg Hunt will occur on Saturday, April 12th in Constitution Park, sponsored by the Fire Department. Summer Concert Series will be held in July in Constitution Park.
Post mentioned that Larchmont was recognized as a Tree City by National Arbor Day Foundation and on Friday, April 25th a tree will be planted in front of Chatsworth School.
Administrator Justin Datino remarked that the Municipal Separate Stormwater Sewer System (MS4) mandates cleaning streets and catch basins, public outreach and construction sites adhering to stormwater property runoff.
The Tentative Budget encompasses $2.7 million for Health Benefits; $1.7 million sanitation, plus Property Tax Levy, 74%; Non-property Tax Levy, 26% with a 2.50% Tax Levy Increase.
