Significant Local Laws Passed at Mamaroneck Town Board Meeting

Mamaroneck Town Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney convened the March 19th Council meeting, stating that she and Councilwoman Sabrina Fiddelman attended a Breakfast Meeting at Larchmont Temple on March 9th, entitled “Nuts and Bolts of Affordable Housing” with guest speakers Noam Bramson, Executive Director, Sustainable Westchester; and Affordable Housing Developer Bill Balter. The Fifth Annual Women’s Summit Conference in White Plains on March 14th concluded with good news that the Town was designated “Tree City U.S.A.” in 2024 by National Arbor Day Foundation for the 32nd year.

In other good news, Mamaroneck Youth Hockey Stateline Hawks, Girls 14 and under has qualified for U.S.A. Hockey Nationals in Coral Springs, FL, April 3-6.

Concerning Affairs of the Town of Mamaroneck, a bid of $395,000 was awarded for “LMC Office Renovation” to Pete Camilli & Sons; $39,720 to Three D Industrial Maintenance Corp. for Street Sweeping in 2025; Shade Structure Policy for Town-Owned Properties, plus Consideration of Municipal Agreement between South East Consortium for Special Services, Inc. and Town for $27,352.92, reflecting a 2.5% increase from 2024.

A significant Local Law was enacted, prohibiting parking Gas/Diesel Fuel vehicles at spaces in stations designed to recharge electric vehicles with a penalty of a $50 fine.  Another Local Law reduces the speed limit on Harrison Drive from 30 to 25 miles per hour.

The Board authorized the Town to join Consortium of Communities, hiring Joel R. Dichter of Dichter Law LLC, as special Counsel to represent participating Westchester municipalities in the Con Edison Electric and Gas Rate Case before the Public Service Commission for a rate not to exceed $5000.
