Water Pipe Replacement, Southeast Consortium, 2024 Capital Budget Amendments Approved

Mamaroneck Town Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney convened the February 21, 2024 Town Council meeting, saying that she attended a Westchester Municipal Officials Association Membership Meeting at Lionsgate HUB, Yonkers, on February 8th, “Tourism in Westchester County,” which also explored film opportunities. Eney also attended the February 14th Sustainable Westchester (SW) virtual Annual Meeting. “SW is a non-profit consortium of Westchester County municipalities, the purpose is the effective collaboration of sustainability initiatives,”

 

“On February 15th, I attended a Public Listening Session, hosted by the Westchester County Board of Legislators in connection with a request by Westchester Joint Water Works for County approval of a land exchange transaction for construction of a filtration plant necessary to comply with State and Federal government safe drinking water requirements.”

Next, a Public Hearing was opened regarding replacement of approximately 170 linear feet of four-inch diameter asbestos water main pipe with a 6-inch diameter ductile iron pipe at maximum estimated cost of $202,000 on Brookside.  It is a Type II Action under State Environmental Quality Review Act regulations. The measure was approved.

 

Meeting as Fire Commissioners, the Board approved a bill of $7,283.06 submitted by Fire Chief Thomas Broderick and bill for $2,668.74, Fire Headquarters Gas Service, approved by Roll Call Vote. 

 

In Affairs of the Town, renewal of agreement of Southeast Consortium 2024 was reached.  The Consortium is a group of eleven Westchester communities that have joined together to provide  special recreation programs and opportunities for residents with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Town’s contribution to Consortium will increase to $26,685.75.

The 2024 Capital Budget Amendments encompass 1) Brookside Place Water Main; 

2) Hommocks Ice Rink HVAC; 3) Town Center Elevator.

 

Finally, the Board confirmed the appointment of Melissa Kaplan-Macey to the Housing Authority, Member C, starting date March 6th, expiring December 31st.
