The Trustees of the Larchmont Public Library have announced that Andrew Farber has been selected as its new Director.

Lauren Gottfried, President of the Trustees, noted, “I know that the entire Board is excited for Andrew to become the new Director of LPL. He has experience leading well-regarded, similarly sized libraries and has created strong connections in the communities where he has served. He offers a strong technology background that will help ensure that the library functions smoothly and stays current with rapidly evolving trends in this digital age. We were impressed with Andrew’s experience in financial management, strategic planning, and managing capital projects. In short, the Board believes he will be a wonderful leader of the library and will work to make sure the LPL maintains its prominent role in our community.”

Andrew brings extensive experience in the Westchester Library System, having served as Director of both the Somers and Chappaqua Libraries. Most recently he was Outreach Coordinator for the Greenburgh Library; his work resulted in the library being awarded Best Concert Series by Westchester Magazine in 2023.

Andrew brings strong technology skills, having received his degree in Information Science from the State University of New York at Oswego. In addition, Andrew was awarded a Master of Library Sciences from the Queens College, City University of New York, and has completed a year-long training course from the Westchester Library System focused on management and leadership. He has also completed the Leadership and Management Program for Public Library Administration of the New York Library Association.

“As I prepare to become the new director of the Larchmont Library, I am excited to begin the culmination of my career in libraries. I can’t wait to collaborate with an amazing team, foster lifelong learning, and help the library continue to grow as a hub of discovery and connection. I am truly honored to be offered the opportunity to work for this amazing community,” said Farber.

Andrew began his new position on January 3. The Trustees are looking forward to working with Andrew to ensure that the LPL continues to be a welcoming and modern library serving the needs of the Village of Larchmont and the Town of Mamaroneck.
