Willow Park Reopens in Larchmont After Renovation

On May 31, Willow Park, one of Larchmont’s beloved parks and historic green spaces, was reopened to the community after a revitalization and restoration project. The new Willow Park is the most recent project completed by The Friends of Larchmont Parks (FOLP), a collaborative effort between FOLP, the Village of Larchmont, and the Village of Larchmont’s Parks and Trees Committee.

The renovation project, which began in the fall of 2023, includes a new basketball court, new playground features, a replacement perimeter fence, and additional seating.

The renovation, which was funded through generous donations to FOLP’s fundraising efforts, was primarily designed to maintain the original integrity of the park’s layout while updating and enhancing the space’s attractions and equipment.

An essential component in the park design was ensuring that the space could be enjoyed by everyone in the community.

“Willow Park, located in the heart of Larchmont, is one of the oldest and most cherished parks in Larchmont,” said Mayor Sarah Bauer. “We are grateful to have collaborated with Friends of Larchmont Parks to give this space a long-overdue and well-deserved update.”

FOLP Board Member Kevin McCarthy, who oversaw and managed the project, said he expects the new park will be welcomed by the community. “Since our founding in 2017, FOLP has remained committed to serving the community as a steward for the area’s parks and green spaces. We are extremely proud of the new Willow Park, and we look forward to our next project.”

Friends of Larchmont Parks, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, works with the Village of Larchmont to improve, beautify, and assist with the development and maintenance of the public parks in our community. As the steward of Larchmont parks, FOLP’s goal is to strategically plan and fundraise for projects that will better parks for all. Friends of Larchmont Parks was created in 2017 by a group of concerned citizens who saw the potential for improving local parks.
