The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) has announced that three Mamaroneck High School seniors are among 55 top student musicians from across the State that have been selected to perform in All-National ensembles sponsored by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Seniors William Tucker (Jazz Ensemble), Sofia Martinez (Mixed Choir) and Jade Decker (also Mixed Choir) will learn from and rehearse with internationally renowned conductors during a three-day festival beginning November 3 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland before performing in concert on November 5, 2022.
According to MUFSD’s K-12 Music Coordinator Dina Madden, this is the first time in more than two decades that the District has had students accepted to All-National. “We couldn’t be more thrilled,” Ms. Madden said.
New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) is the largest state affiliate of the National Association for Music Education. Its mission is to advance music education across New York State for its membership and students in member school programs.
“School communities throughout New York have much to be proud of when it comes to their local music programs. The staff, students, administration, parents, and local leaders can look to these music students as wonderful representatives of their school districts knowing they are among the best musicians in the country,” NYSSMA President Russell Faunce remarked.
