LMC Media Wins National Award for Student Filmmaking Program

LMC Media has announced that it has been awarded “Best Entertainment & Arts Series in the Student Category” at the Alliance for Community Media National Conference for its groundbreaking student filmmaking series, the Future Filmmaker Project.

The Alliance for Community Media (ACM) is a national organization dedicated to advancing community media and local access to electronic communications. Each year, the ACM National Conference recognizes outstanding contributions to community media through a series of awards. This year, LMC Media’s Future Filmmaker Project, led by Dena Schumacher, stood out among numerous entries, earning accolades for its innovative approach to nurturing young talent in the film industry.

The Future Filmmaker Project provides aspiring teen filmmakers with one of their first paid opportunities in film. It is a critical step for these young artists to understand their value.  This program provides them with the next step in their filmmaking journey. Under the guidance of LMC staff, this unique experience not only allows them to share their voice, but it gives the community insight into the teenage perspective: how they think, what they care about, and how they see the world around them.

“We are deeply honored to receive this award from the Alliance for Community Media,” said Dena Schumacher, the project’s founder and lead instructor. “The Future Filmmaker Project embodies our commitment to empowering youth and fostering creativity within our community.”

Since its inception, the Future Filmmaker Project has made a significant impact on young filmmakers, providing them with invaluable experience and exposure. Many participants have gone on to pursue further education and careers in the film industry, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in equipping students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

This award highlights LMC Media’s dedication to community engagement and education, solidifying its role as a leader in promoting local talent and storytelling.
