Special Olympics Coach Suzanne Elson Retires

Suzanne Elson is retiring after 22 years as the head coach and administrator of the Sound Shore Tigers Special Olympics program.

She started the program from its grass roots and has coached hundreds of athletes that have benefited from her selfless work.

 

In addition, Elson taught physical education and adaptive physical education at Hommocks Middle School for 26 years, the Mamaroneck Schools Special Olympics team for 20 years, coached the MHS girls Varsity Volleyball team for 30 years and the Hommocks modified volleyball team for 12 years. For forty years, she has been running the Town of Mamaroneck recreation volleyball program at Hommocks.
