Village News From the Mayor

By Mayor Lorraine Walsh

We have moved closer to beginning Phase 1 of the Flint Park Renovation Project by approving a professional engineering services contract with Woodard & Curran for the planned improvements for Flint Park. We’re so excited about this public/private partnership in our flagship park! For more information about the plan, visit

Coming soon… a new digital face for the Village! At the July Board meeting we approved a contract with website vendor Revize to redo the Village’s website, upgrading it to have a modern, crisp aesthetic, ADA compliance, easy and clear user navigation to get to the information residents and visitors need, and a platform that effectively communicates the Village’s goals and initiatives. I’m excited to get this process started and am looking forward to having a much better vehicle to share important information with the community.

Larchmont has applied for a NYS Smart Growth Comprehensive Planning Grant for our business districts. If awarded, the grant would allow us to create a community-driven plan which would provide the basis for future growth, environmental sustainability, and resiliency in our business districts and commercial corridors.

Larchmont Day and 1922 Day

Saturday and Sunday, September 17-18, will be a fun weekend to celebrate Larchmont! The weekend begins Saturday afternoon with Larchmont Day celebrations from 1PM – 4:30PM, on Larchmont Avenue at Village Hall and Constitution Park! Bring the kids and enjoy a magic show, bouncy castle, face painting, and more family fun!

Then, don’t miss out on Sunday September 18, when we celebrate 1922 Day and the 100th anniversary of Larchmont Village Hall!

Road Improvements

Five road segments were repaved in Larchmont during the last week of July: Bayard, Mayhew, Monroe, Willow, and Beach Avenues. These roads were selected for priority road paving based on evaluations of their road conditions, and we hope residents enjoy the newly restored roads for the next several years!

On July 7th , I had the pleasure of cutting the ribbon for one of our newest businesses, Lincoln Glenn Gallery at 126 Larchmont Avenue. The owners, Doug Gold and Eli Sterngass, have curated a wonderful collection – they’re also very nice! So stop by and say hello! It’s great to have art back in that space (former MAG).

Personnel Changes in Larchmont Fire Department

Larchmont’s Fire Department is making some moves with its personnel. Congratulations to Lieutenant Tony Martyn on his retirement after his dedicated service of 33 years to the Village! Lt. Martyn earned numerous medals of merit for outstanding efforts in the performance of his duties through his career, and assisted at Ground Zero, Hurricane Irene, Superstorm Sandy, and Hurricane Ida.

In his place, Firefighter Michael Ettere has been promoted to the position of Lieutenant. Lt. Ettere has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and work ethic commensurate with his promotion. Congratulations, Lt. Ettere, on your promotion!

Finally, the retirement of Lt. Martyn and the promotion of Lt. Ettere has left a vacancy in the Fire Department. This will be filled by newly hired Firefighter Kristopher Walters, who graduated from the Westchester County Career Fire Academy on July 15, 2022. Kris started as a volunteer firefighter right here in Larchmont and has several years of fire service experience. He will be a great addition to our career firefighter team. Congratulations, Kris!
