Women’s Club of Larchmont Presents
Holiday Book and Author Luncheon

The Annual Woman’s Club of Larchmont, Inc. Book and Author luncheon returns on Friday, December 9, 2022, featuring authors Nicole Eustace, Elyssa Friedland and Kostya Kennedy (in photo above). All are invited to join this very popular event.

In Covered with Night: A Story of Murder and Indigenous Justice in Early America, Pulitzer Prize winner and leading historian, Nicole Eustace reconstructs the 1722 brutal attack by two white fur traders on an indigenous hunter. That act of brutality set into motion a remarkable series of criminal investigations and cross-cultural negotiations that challenged the definition of justice in early America. Her chronicle overturns persistent assumptions about ‘civilized’ Europeans and ‘savage’ Native Americans. Nicole Eustace is a Professor of History at NYU and author of three history books. She lives in Mamaroneck.

Last Summer at the Golden Hotel by Elyssa Friedland, is a fast-paced, hilarious, nostalgia-filled novel of the Goldman and Weingold families who presided over this glamorous resort for more than sixty years. But the Catskills are not what they used to be and neither is their relationship. A tempting offer to sell forces the two families together again to make a heart-wrenching decision. Can the Golden Hotel be saved? Elyssa Friedland, the author of four other novels, is a graduate of Yale University and Columbia Law School. She currently teaches novel writing at Yale and lives in New York City.

Kostya Kennedy’s True: The Four Seasons of Jackie Robinson is a probing, richly detailed, unique biography. By focusing on four transformative years in Robinson’s athletic and public life, Kennedy examines each of these years through details not reported in previous biographies, bringing them to life in vivid prose. Kostya Kennedy is an editorial director at Dotdash Meredith and a former Senior Writer at Sports Illustrated. He is the author of two other bestselling baseball books. He has taught at Columbia and NYU, and he lives in Larchmont.

The luncheon will be held at the Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck with reception & cocktails at 11:30am and luncheon at 12:15pm. There will be an opportunity to meet the authors and have copies of their books personally autographed.
