Mayor Brigid Brennan Sworn In

It was the Changing of the Guard at the July 27th Larchmont Board meeting, as Mayor Brigid Brennan was sworn in by Deputy Mayor/Trustee Peter Fanelli, replacing Mayor Sarah Bauer, who resigned on Wednesday, June 24th.
Lieutenant Joseph Paprota was appointed Chief of Police, sworn in by Brennan, replacing Chief Chris McNerney. “Joseph has been an integral part of this administration since his promotion in June 2022,” McNerney noted. “Over the past four years, he has taken a leadership role in every initiative undertaken and has done so with a steady, quiet competence that earns the respect of people around him, officers and residents alike.
“On numerous occasions he has responded from home on his own time to make sure significant incidents were handled properly,” McNerney said, mentioning that Paprota coached a victim to deal with a scanner, which resulted in an outstanding arrest. There was also an underground fire at Chatsworth and West Avenue, where Joe was injured during a blast. McNerney also remarked that Paprota has monitored the Police Department safety camera system.
Next, Mayor Brennan opened a Public Hearing amending the Village Code with respect to gasoline station convenience stores, dedicated to the limited sale of prepackaged foods. According to the Code, no gasoline station shall include a fast-food establishment. As the Code states, a gasoline service station convenience store shall be permitted as an accessory use to a gasoline service station subject several requirements.
In other Village business, Julia Davis was appointed Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics.
There was authorization to execute a license agreement with Everett J. Prescott, Inc. for Leak Detection Technology.
There were funds for court record scanning and shredding services, plus authorization to enter into a contract with Nichola Armacost to provide consultation on the Climate Smart Community Program.
