MHS Scientists Shine at Regeneron Competition

Twenty students in the Mamaroneck High School Original Science Research Program were recognized for their work at the Regeneron Westchester Science and Engineering Fair (WESEF).

WESEF is a regional showcase of top high school research projects from Westchester, Putnam, and Sullivan counties. The top 20 projects earn the opportunity to represent the region at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), where they compete against more than 1,500 students from more than 70 countries.

Junior Harper Morgan is among that distinguished top 20 and will advance to ISEF in Phoenix, as well as the New York Invention Convention in Albany. Reflecting on the experience, Harper shared, “I couldn’t believe that my name was called three individual times and I’m very happy with the outcome of my project and that all that hard work paid off.”

Harper’s project, “Utilizing a Rounded Hexagonal Prism Shade Cover to Decrease Evaporation Rates,” explores a reservoir cover design that reduces water loss while maximizing efficiency through innovative geometric structure.

The breadth of recognition across disciplines underscores the level of commitment and curiosity driving Mamaroneck’s research students. From engineering and computer science to environmental science, medicine, and behavioral science, students earned honors at every level:
