First Dos Caminos Class Graduates in Mamaroneck

The Dos Caminos 12th Grade Pioneer Class Recognition Ceremony, held on April 20, was an evening filled with pride, reflection, and gratitude as the district celebrated a historic milestone: the first graduating class of the Dos Caminos Dual Language Spanish Immersion Program.

Students, families, and staff gathered to honor both the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 and the shared journey that made this moment possible. Remarks from district and building leaders and teachers reflected deep appreciation for a program built through strong partnership, while highlighting how bilingualism broadens students’ understanding of and connection to the world.

Teachers across K–12 formed the emotional core of the evening, centering on the theme of “firsts.” They reflected on this group as true pioneers: the first to navigate an uncharted path, growing and learning side by side with families as they built the Dos Caminos program and advanced a shared vision of bilingualism and biliteracy.

Certificates recognized students from the original kindergarten cohort, those who joined along the way, and those completing the program as 12th graders, many of whom are candidates for the New York State Seal of Biliteracy.

A moving video montage closed the evening, capturing the students’ journey and prompting both celebration and reflection. The Dos Caminos Pioneer Class leaves a lasting legacy, having helped build a foundation that will inspire future generations of multilingual learners.
