Larchmont Appoints New Police Officer

Village of Larchmont Mayor Sarah Bauer opened the September 29 Board of Trustees meeting by thanking the Arts Committee with liaison, Trustee Peter Fanelli and Chairs, Nili Asherie and Carey Federspiel, for a successful Larchmont Arts Festival on September 27. Bauer then announced the retirement of Village Hall Caretaker Arturo Hildago after 25 years of dedicated service.
Village Administrator Aylone Katzin said that 1.25 million miles of road paving has been planned and impacted residents will be notified. Recruitment has begun to fill the Assistant Village Administrator and Building Inspector positions.
Police Chief Chris T. McNerney introduced newly hired Police Officer Deliana Ortiz, who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Plattsburgh.
Ms. Ortiz began her career in law enforcement in July 2022 as an Officer with the New York City Police Department.
“Since our last meeting on July 21st, we have had 11 leaf blower complaints, three of these complaints were observed by our Officers; summonses were issued in all three cases, ” Chief McNerney continued. “The remaining eight leaf blower complaints were reported to the Police Department by members of the public; summonses were issued in two of those incidents.
“On September 8th we were notified that our Department was awarded the AAA Bronze Award for Traffic Safety, the fifth year in a row that we have been recognized for our traffic safety program,” he said.
Fire Chief Richard Valentine remarked that Fire Prevention Week, October 5th-11th focused on proper disposal of lithium-ion batteries. For further information on these batteries, contact the Larchmont Fire Department at 914-834-0016, extension 4.
August 6th Resolutions included Updated Park and Trees Committee Charter, plus allocation of $30,000 for refurbishment of holiday decorations. September 8th Resolutions: approval for Friends of Larchmont Constitution Park Landscaping and Plantings Phase 1 (FOLP) plus Westchester County Complete Streets Municipal Assistance Program.
