UPDATE FROM VILLAGE OF LARCHMONT – April 19, 2020
Dear Fellow Larchmonters,
We hope that everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather. Governor Cuomo announced today that we have passed the high point of the spread of the virus. While this is a marathon, not a sprint, we are moving in the right direction. We all are in this together and in order to keep our momentum please continue to practice social distancing.
Everyone Must Wear Masks:
Governor Cuomo issued an Executive Order that became effective on Saturday requiring everyone to wear masks or other face coverings, like bandanas, when in public and social distancing cannot be maintained. He noted we can still “take walks and jog” but that we should always wear a mask and use it whenever we cannot keep proper physical distance. Masks are required by everyone in stores, workers and customers alike, and on public transportation or for-hire vehicles.
We have begun using Zoom videoconferences to continue the Village’s work. Please check the Village website calendar HERE for information on how to view and participate in Board of Trustee and Village committee meetings.
Monday 4/20 at 7:30PM – the Board of Trustee will hold its regular monthly meeting.
Tuesday 4/21 at 7:30PM – the Planning Board will hold its meeting adjourned from March.
Leaf Blower Ban:
All types of leaf blowers for any purpose have been banned in Larchmont by Executive Order of Mayor Walsh. This will continue at least as long as New York is under PAUSE. HERE is a link to a flyer with more information. Please make sure your landscaper is aware of the ban.
Please remember to SHOP LOCAL:
Most of our local business owners are seriously hurting during this shutdown. At the moment, the federal government CARES Act money that was intended to help them has run out and most that was distributed went to large businesses anyway. You can order takeout from many of our restaurants. Groceries, delis, bakeries, and liquor, hardware and convenience stores are open for business (wear a mask if you shop in person). Many others are trying to stay alive online – please check the OneLM website HERE to see how you can order books and toys, the latest fashion items, gifts to send to homebound friends and relatives, buy gift cards to use when businesses reopen, or take virtual pilates, dance, meditation or art classes to keep you fit, both physically and mentally.
FARMERS MARKET IS BACK IN LARCHMONT:
Download the WhatsGood Marketplace app to pre-order #bread #pickles #croissants #cheese #meat #eggs #applecider #apples #vegetables #oliveoil #cookies #seafood and more. Then head HERE to reserve a pick-up time slot. The Larchmont Farmers Market is at the Larchmont train station on Saturdays between 9am and 12pm.
