Mamaroneck High School Celebrates the Class of 2024

Carrying on its long-standing tradition, the Mamaroneck High School Class of 2024 was led across the field and to their seats by two classmates, Joe Robb O’Hagan and Maxwell Robinson, who carried the American and MHS flags on Monday, June 24, 2024. Clutching their caps against a fierce wind, 394 graduates took their seats for the 133rd Mamaroneck High School graduation while cheered by faculty, family, and friends.

Speakers for the event sat against a backdrop with the phrase, Find Here the Love of Beauty, Goodness, Truth. MUFSD Superintendent Dr. Charles Sampson, who is marking his first year in the role, welcomed guests and delivered brief remarks that he concluded by referencing a favorite quote by T.S. Elliott, “Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go,” and saying “to the class of 2024, as you chart your course, I hope you spend all of your days finding out just how far you can go.”

Subsequent speakers included MHS Principal Lina Carolini-Cannavo, Student Affairs Kristen Barnard, MUFSD Board of Education President Ariana Cohen, and Valedictorian Boaz Farscht and Salutatorian Noah Sodickson, both of whom will attend the University of Chicago.

The Class of 2024 gift was presented to MHS by President of the Student Council Executive Board Saliou Sek, along with Senior Vice President Juliet Patricot, Maxwell Robinson, and Joe Robb O’Hagan. The gift, a bronze tiger, will sit proudly at the Memorial stage.

The Annual Boothby Award was presented to Joani Kaleshi on behalf of the Mamaroneck Teacher’s Association. The award, presented at graduation, is bestowed upon the graduate who best exemplifies the ideals of public education.

Graduates were called to the stage one by one by Assistant Principal Ashley Martinez as diplomas were presented by Principal Carolini-Cannavo. Congratulations and best wishes to all graduates and their families – MHS Tigers for life!
