At the meeting of the Board of Trustees on September 18, Mamaroneck Town Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney recounted the Tri-Municipal 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony at Girl Scout Rock, Memorial Park at which a new memorial was dedicated in honor of three first responders from the community.

Eney also mentioned that September 30 was the last day for the leaf blower ban, and effective January 1, gas-powered leaf blowers will be banned. The Board approved a Golf Course Exemption, however, which will allow golf clubs to use power tools to use power leaf blowers and snow removal tools.

The annual Food Truck Festival will be held on Saturday, October 5 from noon-4:00 p.m. at Memorial Park in Larchmont.

Two Capital Budget Amendments were approved at the meeting by roll call vote. The first concerned the now-completed multi-year sanitary sewer project that involved the replacement of sanitary sewer townwide. Thirty-two percent of the project’s $5.9 million was funded through an EFC Grant of $1.9m or $500k more than the original budget. The Town bonded $3.9 million, but $1.6 million was not utilized and will be returned to the debt service fund. A budget amendment was needed to effect this transfer.

The second Capital Budget Amendment pertained to an emergency replacement of 600 linear feet of asbestos cement water main on Trails End in Rye is needed due to a break in the line. Currently, the water main is out of service, and the ten impacted residences are being supplied with water through a temporary connection to a fire hydrant. A budget amendment was needed to transfer funds for the Town’s share of the project from contingency.
