Two Police Officers Promoted, a New Recreation Director Announced, and a New ZBA Member Appointed

At the Village of Larchmont Board of Trustees meeting on May 20, Mayor Sarah Bauer mentioned that the former Fire Chief John Caparelli would be the Grand Marshal at the Memorial Day Parade.

 

The Larchmont Music Festival will be held on Saturday, June 8 in Constitution Park, and Sprint to Flint will be held on Friday, June 14. Visit www.larchmontny.gov for more information about both events. 

 

Mayor Bauer announced that a new Recreation Director was appointed, Danielle Fairweather. She also congratulated former Planning Board Chair John Parkinson, who was to be honored on May 30 with a Distinguished Citizen Planner Award by the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation at their 50th Annual Planning Awards Program.

 

Trustee Dana Post announced the appointment of Julie Siler to the Zoning Board of Appeals, replacing Jack Callahan who is moving out of the area after 20 years of service.

 

Police Chief Christopher McNerney reported that the manager of Encore Bistro received a fraudulent phone call on May 14. The caller claimed that there was a need to charge for changing a Con Edison electric meter, but a call to ConEd revealed that they do not charge for meter replacements. McNerney added that Detective Danielle Lent was being promoted to Sergeant plus Detective Second Grade and Joseph Aboudi, a certified firearms instructor, to Detective First Grade. 

 

On May 13, the Police Department received a $1,016,500 Law Enforcement Technology Grant from the NYS Division of Criminal Justices, the third largest award in the County, which will be used by LPD to update and expand their technology with a new computer for dispatch and records management software system. 

 

Chief McNerney also noted that six parking enforcement scofflaw vehicles were seized with delinquent parking fines totaling $4900.

 

Resolutions included a 2024-25 Tax Warrant; a Stormwater Agreement with 40 Ocean Properties where the homeowner agrees to maintain their stormwater management systems; a Performance Security Bond for the installation of sewer improvements on Walnut Avenue; a Memorandum of Agreement with Patrolman’s Benevolent Association (PBA)  and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Awareness Month for June 2024.
