Meet Grassroots Grocery’s Chief of Staff, George Espinal
Grassroots Grocery is growing and now has their first ever, non-founder, full-time employee, George Espinal, Chief of Staff! Born and raised in Northern Manhattan, George, who is of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent, graduated from CUNY John Jay College with a B.S. in Public Administration. His extensive experience in New York politics and government and his lifelong connection to the Grassroots community are the perfect combination to help Grassroots nourish its neighbors in need. George’s “authenticity and deep-rooted dedication” reflect their motto, “Neighbors helping neighbors.”
As George has stated, “I am thrilled to be a part of the Grassroots Grocery community, to roll up my sleeves and dive into the work that lies ahead. Together, let’s harness our passion and dedication to make a positive impact that ripples through the heart of New York City.”
In his free time, George loves nature and hiking and often frequents his favorite state parks, Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park, which is located in New York City at the southernmost point of Roosevelt Island, or Minnewaska State Park Preserve, located on the Shawangunk Ridge in Ulster County. When not outdoors, this fan of the late Anthony Bourdain also George, often explores new restaurants.
